our bodies, our hearts, our humanity, and our home. Through safe and

The tree of
our dreams is a symbol of the Self, rooted in the wisdom and experience of the
collective, and reaching out into the world in service. The branches of
the tree support life in many ways: from the production of oxygen for
breathing beings, to providing the habitat for birds and animals, large and
small. What can our tree friends teach us about our relationship to our
planet, and what we are called to be in these days of tremendous upheaval and
change?
Through
dance, Celtic tree oracle, the "Work That Reconnects" and shamanic journey, we
will spend a day together appreciating these wonderful beings, getting closer
to them and listening for their deepest message.
Facilitators:

born in England,
grew up in Argentina,
and has spent the last 46 years in Canada.
She is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Thomas More Institute where
she also designs and leads discussion courses for Adult Education. She is

She is the President of the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy as well

how central listening and containment are to healing work of all kinds.
Barbara has trained with Joanna Macy in the Work that Reconnects, a body of
exercises which facilitate our reconnection to both the planet and our deepest
feelings about the crisis we are living these days.
PREVIOUS WORKSHOP SCHEDULE (2008-2009):
Sept. 27: THE WORK THAT RECONNECTS
By virtue of being alive on an endangered planet, each of us holds pain
for the world in our hearts. Instead of letting this pain isolate us, this
workshop will offer ways to witness and transform our pain into gratitude,
insight, interconnection and empowerment. We will let the earth speak through
us, for the Earth's healing is our healing; planetary grief is our grief. Using
creative exercises -- including movement, drama, meditation and ritual -- we
will reawaken our love in life and our power to act.
Facilitated by: Rebekah Hart
Earth Dialogue Co-coordinator, Trained Facilitator in The Work that
Reconnects, Graduate of the McGill School of Environment and a student of
Hakomi (mindfulness-based psychotherapy).
November 29: THE MEDICINE WHEEL
The Medicine Wheel teaches us that life is continuous, without beginning
or end. 'Medicine' means power or knowledge, the "wheel" represents the circle of life - hence the Medicine Wheel is a circle of
knowledge that gives one power over one's life. In this workshop we will focus
on how ancient shamanic principles can foster the development of inner
awareness and self-healing. As we face the different directions of the Medicine
Wheel and commune with the powers of those directions, we receive different
reflections of who we are.
Facilitated by: Liddy Flewelling
Energetic Healer and teacher at Natural Health Consultants Institute
February 7: AWAKENING THE DREAMER, CHANGING THE DREAM SYMPOSIUM
Where on Earth are we going? And what can we do about it? These are two
of the questions that are at the heart of the Awakening the Dreamer, Changing
the Dream Symposium. The Symposium is a profound inquiry into a bold vision: to
bring forth an environmentallysustainable, spiritually fulfilling,
and socially just human presence on Earth. If you are ready to explore what
this vision means for you, and the opportunity to create an inspiring future,
we invite you to attend.
Facilitated by: Janet Laughton MacKay, Tom Pickens, Carol Bates
Trained Facilitators of the Pachamama Alliance
March 7: HONOURING WHO WE ARE AND ALL THAT IS: Awakening the Power
Within
Given the challenges we face in our lives
and world today, it is essential to explore ways in which we can provide
on-going support to ourselves, our community, and our earth. In a safe and
inclusive space, this transformative workshop offers a unique experience to
re-connect with our bodies, our hearts, our humanity, and our earth. Through an
interactive and intimate journey, we will have the opportunity to be witness to
our personal and collective processes, and develop practical tools and
resources. By honoring who we are and all that is, we can re-awaken the
divine power within us and begin to nurture meaningful change in our lives.
Facilitated by: Solomon Krueger
Playshop facilitator, photo artist and
student of Applied Human Sciences
April 4: THE UNIVERSE IS MY BODY: AWAKENING TO INTER-BEING
Using silent meditation, ancient Buddhist contemplations and
experiential exercises developed by Joanna Macy, this workshop will explore
teachings on interdependence and connect them with our present need for new
understanding and action for the well-being of the Earth as a living system.
Participants will deepen their experiential understanding of the mutuality of
all life; we have emerged from the life that preceded us and we lay the
conditions for the life that follows. The workshop will also explore in a felt,
embodied way the meaning of deep ecology, which is a view of life forms and
systems as intrinsically valuable, not only in terms of their utility for human
life. The day will flow between activity, reflection and silent practice.
Facilitated by: Daryl Lynn Ross
Meditation teacher and practitioner, former University Chaplain of
Concordia University, and trained facilitator in the Work that Reconnects
CROSSING THE THRESHOLD OF DEEP TIME:
New Perspectives on Faith,
Cosmology and Sustainability
Friday May 1st, 7:30-9:30 PM and Saturday May 2nd
10 am - 5 pm:
Special 2-day Workshop with Sister Miriam MacGillis
We are the generation awakening to profoundly expanded understandings of
the unity and continuing evolution of the Universe. This includes the
recognition that Earth is a living planet and that humanity plays a significant
role in Earth's ongoing meaning and destiny. Together we will explore the
implications of these understandings as well as the creative possibilities we
hold for creating a future of hope, compassion and beauty. We will explore, as
well, the constraints on our thinking and acting as we carry the pain and
tensions of these critical times in our everyday lives.
Facilitated by: Sr. Miriam MacGillis
Miriam MacGillis is a Dominican Sister of Caldwell and the
co-founder of Genesis Farm, a learning center for Earth Studies in New Jersey.
An Earth activist, artist and long-time colleague of Thomas Berry, Miriam is an
internationally acclaimed speaker. Among her audio and video tapes, are
"Fate of the Earth" and "Exploring a New Cosmology."
